When Fish Fly: lessons for creating a vital and energized workplace from the world famous Pike Place Fish Market

I like all of the Fish! books and CDs I've come across. For those unfamiliar with the Fish! concept, it is an actual licensed business training tool. Yokoyama's transformational story is worth listening to for anyone who has ever believed that she couldn't be happy or make her business work.

Secrets of Successful Negotiating For Women

Wendy Keller's straightforward approach is easy to understand and simple to implement. She uses examples and scripts that can be applied to any negotiation. Everything from listening to NLP skills and how to stand your ground is discussed. A good resource for anyone not yet comfortable with asking for what they know they deserve.

Secrets of Six Figure Women

This is one of my favorite books. It is inspirational and loaded with useful information. If you read only one book this year, make it this one. Stanny talked to over 150 high earner women for this book and believe me we can learn from what she learned. If you want to earn six figures but don't know where to start, start with this book.

The End Of Marketing As We Know It

Zyman's take on marketing is definitely out of the box - though if you start to look around you will see that what he writes about is or is beginning to occur all around us. As the former Chief Marketing Officer for the Coca-Cola Company and a rebel thinker, what he has to say is worth listening to. His "End Of Advertising As We Know It" continues where this book leaves off. It is also worth reading if you like this book.

Fish! Tales, Bite-sized stories. Unlimited Possibilities

Fish! Tales is a series of short stories that illustrate how the Fish! concept can and has changed people's lives and businesses. Broken into "bite-sized" tales it is easy to read for those with limited available reading time. A great way to start or end the day. Though be warned, if you read this at bed time, you may become excited and end up not falling quickly asleep. This is the voice of experience.

Women's Bodies Women's Wisdom

This is an excellent resource for women of all ages. It continues to astound me at how much information you get for what the book costs. I paid $24.95 for my copy and thought it a phenomenal deal at that price. Dr. Northrup discusses how society defines women and our bodies; she provides quality information about our bodies and women's health in general; and she outlines possible strategies for creating self-defined health in our lives. Chapters and sections can be read on their own making it a truly useful tool. Its a resource I come back to time and time again.

Every Move Must Have A Purpose

I am always surprised when a book this small contains so much useful information. Each of the book's 15 short chapters (the book is only 114 pages) clearly and concisely outlines one particular strategic point . Individually these points provide lessons on key business principles, together they provide a foundation for a comprehensive strategy.

The Secret: What Great Leaders Know and Do

Ken Blanchard has the ability to take complex problems and create simple implementable solutions. This book is a must read for anyone wanting to be a more effective leader- the critical factor in being able to grow one's business. It is simple, straight forward and full of useful information. Told in a story format, the book provides examples of key leadership principles and their impact on succesful team building.

The Feminine Mistake

As women we often struggle with whether or not to work after we have children. For anyone who wants to feel a little less guilty and a little better informed on some of the hidden emotional and financial costs involved with "staying home" this book is both an eye opener and a message of hope. It is not only well written but well researched.

Meditations

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus was Roman Emperor from 161 to his death in 180. Meditations is written as a series of thoughts on a variety of subjects. His words and musings have encouraged people for centuries to think about how to better live one's life, become an engaged citizen and create tolerance and foster humility within oneself. A must read for anyone interested in becoming all that one is capable of becoming.
